Opportunity Overview:
At Cohere Health our Data & AI Team is focused on using a variety of payer and provider data to automate and augment the prior authorization process. As a leader on the team you have the opportunity to work with complex data and AI solutions in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving landscape answering critical business and clinical questions. This role is critical to scaling our data and insights capabilities, empowering teams with actionable insights, and supporting our mission to improve healthcare decision-making.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data engineers, data scientists, healthcare analysts, actuaries, clinicians, and business stakeholders, to build and scale data products that support dashboarding, advanced analytics, predictive models, and AI-driven solutions. Your focus will be to ensure our data is timely, meaningful, easy-to-use, and well-governed to create real-world impact.

What you will do:
Provide thought leadership & strategic thinking to design and enablement of Cohere’s enterprise data warehouse, data lakes and datamarts
Lead our enterprise master data initiatives to ensure single, accurate, and consistent view of key entities like patients and providers, including standard definitions for our clinical and operational needs
Collaborate with product managers, business and analytic stakeholders to translate business needs to practical and scalable data solutions
Collaborate with enterprise architects to design and enable scalable, efficient data architectures that can handle large volumes and varieties of data
Lead a team of data owners who are accountability for the usability, quality, and governance of our enterprise clinical and operational data assets
Lead a team of analytic data engineers to enrich and curate data from multiple sources in a scalable and cost effective manner
Partner with legal, security, product and engineering leaders to adopt and implement industry best practices in data security and governance
Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, set clear goals, and mentor staff
A forward-thinking mindset to identify opportunities to improve existing infrastructure and adopt new technologies that enhance scalability and performance
Drive adoption of data products and promote data-driven making culture through training, education, and support for technical and non-technical users
Your background and requirements:
10+ years of hands on experience in data engineering and analytics
5+ years of experience in leading healthcare data engineering or analytic software development teams
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
Deep expertise in translating complex transactional and clinical data into enterprise-grade data products with quantifiable business impact
Led development initiatives that enable scalable and efficient data architectures that can handle large volumes and varieties of data, including data warehousing and data lakes
Led program initiatives to drive enterprise data standards, governance and cataloging
Proven track record in building and scaling data engineering and analytics teams, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance management.
Experience with cloud providers, including data pipeline technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Glue), analytics platform (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), data storage technologies (e.g., AWS Redshift, MongoDB), and cost optimization methodologies
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with experience in agile or scrum methodologies
Understanding of data security protocols, encryption standards, data privacy and protection regulations, and best practices in access management
Knowledge in healthcare coding standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, NCD), clinical terminologies and ontologies (e.g., Snomed, UMLS)
Knowledge in healthcare business operations (preferred)
Hands-on experience in clinical analytics (preferred)
Familiarity with business intelligence and AI application product development (preferred)

The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $200,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
