THE ROLE

Supports MFS attorneys with respect to their work on investment advisory and retail distribution matters, as well as MFS retirement plan and welfare benefit plan matters. This role will be on a cross-functional team and will be expected to handle matters in multiple areas, including employment-related matters. Given the breadth of the coverage, training will be provided on areas which are new to the candidate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Support and eventually take responsibility for the filing of MFS’s Form ADV.

Handle projects and other regulatory filings related to MFS’s investment advisory and retail distribution business.

Review MFS welfare plan and retirement plan documents and work with counsel to amend plan documents, as needed.

Create plan-related documents, such as the Summary Plan Descriptions for MFS retirement plans and revise as needed.

Provide guidance to internal teams on matters related to the MFS retirement plans and welfare plan, including with respect to ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.

Participate on a cross-functional team and handle additional responsibilities on matters that support attorneys who handle employment, investment advisory and retail distribution-related topics (with training).

May oversee the work of more junior paralegals.

Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ work experience with 5-6+ years of legal or regulatory experience.

Strong knowledge of relevant technological systems employed by MFS.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees and outside parties at all organizational levels.

Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and time management skills are required.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
