Job Summary Consistent with and in support of the University’s mission and values, this position plays a key role in overseeing critical student support services, ensuring the development of a vibrant and inclusive campus community, and serving as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator. The Associate Vice President (AVP) will provide strategic leadership for assigned key areas fostering an environment that enhances student success and well-being. This position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence (VPSAIE). Specific departments of oversight will be determined by the VPSAIE which may include Campus Ministry, Moreau Center for Community Service & Justice, Campus Safety, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Residence Life, Student Life & Activities, Student Health & Wellness, and the CARE Team.
Core Duties
Leadership & Supervision:
Provide direct oversight and management of Student Affairs units, including Residence Life, Student Life/Activities, Student Health and Wellness, and the CARE Team. Manage the work of Directors and other key employees, processes, and projects, to implement the strategic goals of the Student Affairs division and University. Make hiring decisions, provide coaching and mentoring, and manage performance and staffing levels.
Program Development:
Develop, analyze, and measure effectiveness, and oversee programs and tools for delivery of student services or programs, including forecasting, planning, and managing program budgets.
Student Advocacy:
Serve as an advocate for student well-being, ensuring programs and services meet their academic, social, emotional, and physical needs.
Crisis Management:
Direct university responses to student crises, behavioral issues, and other urgent matters, including overseeing the CARE Team’s intervention efforts.
Title IX Compliance:
Serve as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator, assisting in investigations, overseeing compliance efforts, and ensuring the development of programs promoting a safe and equitable campus for all students.
Policy Development:
Collaborate with university leaders to develop, implement, and communicate policies and best practices in alignment with higher education standards and federal/state regulations. Review exceptions to policies and resolve concerns as appropriate.
Health & Wellness:
Oversee student health services and wellness programs, ensuring accessibility and quality care, while promoting proactive wellness education.
Community Building:
Foster a strong sense of community through student engagement, leadership opportunities, and development programs in Residence Life and Student Life/Activities. Identify, manage relationships, and negotiate with external and internal partners.
Specific Duties
Foster the holistic growth of students in the Holy Cross tradition, supporting their education and character formation, and encouraging them to live lives of service and leadership.
Provide effective leadership to areas of the Student Affairs division as assigned by modeling the core themes of the University’s mission: Teaching & Learning, Faith & Formation, and Service & Leadership.
Directly supervise Department Directors and key staff within the division. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring processes, setting clear expectations and objectives, training and professional development, developing and maintaining a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and excellence, and managing performance and evaluations inclusive of disciplinary processes up to termination of employment as needed.
Provide leadership and support to the Care Teams (Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment Team, BITA as well as Early Alert Team). Receive initial high-level reports, coordinate services with appropriate campus departments, and ensure appropriate outcomes.
Promote student diversity initiatives on campus with assistance from relevant offices and staff in the division.
Provide direction regarding policies and procedures of the division, including, without limitation, the Student Code of Conduct.
Contribute to the achievement of the University’s strategic goals for the division by collaborating with the Vice President for Student Affairs on high-level projects and initiatives.
Represent the division as assigned or requested. Act as designee of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence as assigned or requested.
Provide leadership on committees and groups as assigned or requested, including the Care Team.

Required: Advanced degree in a relevant field of study.
Required: 5 to 7 years of significant relevant professional experience.
