Summary of Position
The Director of Ecommerce is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and execution of ecommerce initiatives to drive online sales, enhance customer experience, and build brand loyalty. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the ecommerce business, including website management, user experience, and sales through various online channels, including Amazon. Additionally, the Director will oversee the relationship with the web development agency to ensure optimal website performance and innovation. The individual must be located in Minneapolis. This is a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work. Major Areas of Accountability
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement ecommerce strategies aligned with business goals and overall company strategy. Analytics and Insights:
Leverage data and analytics across the conversion funnel to inform decision-making, optimize performance, and identify growth opportunities. Conduct A/B testing and monitor KPIs using GA4. Web Conversion Rate Optimization and Customer Experience:
Optimize the ecommerce website for performance, UX, and conversion. Enhance customer experience through UX/UI improvements, A/B testing, user-generated content, product recommendations, site search optimization, and personalization. Oversee site navigation, content development, checkout process, and promotional campaigns. Innovation and Technology:
Stay updated on industry trends and implement new tools and technologies to enhance the ecommerce business. Digital Marketing and SEO:
Support the digital marketing team with SEO initiatives to enhance search engine rankings and visibility. Oversee the execution of email marketing campaigns to drive engagement and conversions. Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing ecommerce team, including managers, developers, and specialists. P&L Management:
Oversee the ecommerce P&L, managing budgets, forecasts, vendor contracts, and financial performance. Amazon and Marketplaces:
Increase sales through Amazon and assess other online marketplaces. Oversee team to optimize product listings, pricing, promotions, and inventory. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate and align with marketing, merchandising, IT, and inventory to support ecommerce initiatives. Vendor Management:
Manage the relationship with the web development agency to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality project delivery. Requirements for Position
10+ years of experience managing an ecommerce business, with a proven track record of driving online sales with annual revenue of at least $50M. Deep understanding of ecommerce platforms, including experience with Magento or similar. Advanced skills in GA4 or equivalent analytics tools. Ability to balance strategic best practices with technical knowledge to drive the web development process. Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Strong leadership and team management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Woodworking experience is a plus.
