Purpose:
Our high school after-school educational programs are seeking talented individuals in all subject areas to support students between 9th and 12th grade as an After School Program Leader. In this role, our After School Program Leaders support both struggling and gifted students in helping them to reach their full potential by supplementing the instruction they receive during the school day.
Position Summary:
The After School Program Leader works with the After-School Program Site Coordinator to provide academic, enrichment and physical recreation programs to students attending the YMCA's After School Programs. The After School Program Leader works directly with 9th-12th grade students as a tutor, instructor and/or coach, and creates engaging, interesting, educational and fun programs and activities. The After School Program Leader mentors students and will ensure a safe, caring after school program environment for all students that encourages creativity, expression and social emotional learning.

Pay:
$17.28-$18.03/per hour.
Expected Hours:
15-20 hours per week during the school year (additional hours may be available during school breaks)
Expected Shifts:
After school hours, between 3:00pm-6:30pm, Monday-Friday
Work Location:
In person; Northridge, CA (Northridge Academy High School or Valley Academy for Arts and Sciences)
What you'll do:
Engage and support high school students in 9th-12th grade in various educational and recreational activities, including but not limited to tutoring, academic homework support, enrichment, physical activities, recreation, clubs, sports, etc.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
Collaborate with fellow team members to plan and execute engaging program.
Build strong relationships with children, parents, and the school community.
What we're looking for:
Must be 21 years-old or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Passion for working with high school students in an educational setting.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Eagerness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive community.
Availability on school days; approximately 15-20 hours per week. Additional hours may be available during school breaks when the YMCA is operating school break programs. In addition to regular work shift, there are trainings, special events and professional development sessions that take place during the year. All trainings are paid.
This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check.
To ease the onboarding experience, hired candidates will be provided access to complete a mandatory TB Test clearance, at no cost, prior to their first scheduled shift. The YMCA also provides all new hires with access to paid CPR/First Aid certification training, at no cost, to be completed within 60 days of hire.
