Job Title: Retail Cashier Department: Retail Store Reports to: Retail Supervisor
Position Prerequisites:
1. Must be able to deal correctly with cash and charge transactions.
2. Previous retail sales experience preferred.
3. Visual merchandising skills.
4. Ability to work with guests in all areas, with a positive approach.
5. Ability to concentrate on detail and follow-up work while maintaining a high standard of guest satisfaction.
6. Ability to work as a team.
Purpose:
Receive funds from customer in exchange for goods or services and records transaction via a cash register.
Major Duties:
1. Accept cash or credit for payment, return proper change, and documentation of transaction.
2. Complete credit card transactions via magnetic reader. Ring these sales accordingly in register.
3. Compares total on register tapes to actual register contents to balance register.
4. Processes refunds and credits as necessary.
5. Reports any shortage or overage.
6. Cashier should be neat in appearance according to employee appearance standards.
7. Due to constant customer contact, the cashier must maintain hospitable, friendly and responsible attitude. The cashier must be able to maintain this attitude through high volume and pressure situations.
8. Greet guests while receiving check and money in hospitable manner.
9. Announce all amounts received from each guest.
10. Accurately count back all change.
11. Place cash received in drawer only after recognition of customer satisfaction.
12. Maintain sanitation of cashier booth and stocking of supplies.
13. Make certain the register has an ample supply of tape at all times.
14. Calculate pricing of merchandise and tag accordingly.
15. Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality.
16. Greet all guests as they enter your work area. Offer assistance immediately. Thank all customers as they leave your work area.
17. General understanding of prices and costs
18. Complete merchandise and product knowledge is imperative in satisfying customer needs.
19. Each employee is required to know thoroughly all register procedures (i.e., voids, merchandise returns, employee discounts, charge sales, specials, and Crown Club transactions).
20. Balance all work at end of shift in a reasonable and efficient amount of time.
21. Appropriate change levels must be maintained in the cash drawer at all times and is the responsibility of the cashier.
23. Adhere to safety policies
24. Be present at all departmental, resort and training meetings.
25. Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (both within the department and in other resort departments).
26. Maintain a positive attitude toward the resort and the job being performed.
27. The telephone should be answered within three rings as follows:
"Bridge Bay (Department) . This is (your name); May I help you?"
General:
1. Be aware of daily activities and events at the resort.
2. Be knowledgeable of all resort operations.
3. Perform all reasonable job requests assigned by General Manager.
4. Material handling: stooping, bending, lifting an average of 30 pounds will be part of some job requirements.
