As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats. The Product Manager will lead the organization in leveraging passion about healthcare and technology to impact patients’ lives. The role will be the lead on product strategy and new product development direction in the specific product line(s) for Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICD) and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy – Defibrillators (CRT-D) (together “high voltage therapies” in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM). This person will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the new products or evolutions of existing products provide value to our various customers and improve the standard of care. The Product Manager is responsible for the product from identification of customer and market needs/wants, to concept and product development, claims and data development, supporting product launch teams, financial analysis / modeling, and related long-range portfolio management for the assigned product line(s). What You’ll Work On Develop, support, and execute a cohesive vision and strategy for a particular product line or category in close collaboration with other global upstream marketing counterparts, global downstream marketing partners, regional teams, and relevant stakeholders from the business to ensure winning propositions in the market, often being a combination of a system, software, accessories, and in collaboration with digital connectivity. Seek cross-functional and cross-geo alignment on the new products and features development by executing and reinforcing Abbott CRM marketing process. Develop alignment on the problem and opportunity statements, Target Product Profile, Minimum Viable Product Profile, value proposition, claim matrix, evidence planning, global forecast, geo planning, and other upstream activities throughout product development cycles. Thoroughly understand competitive offerings and provide
development/commercial
organizations with appropriate value proposition and positioning to differentiate product(s) versus the competition in a profitable manner that creates value for the customer. Support the development of the Marketing Plan for responsible product line(s) by incorporating all aspects of the strategic direction. Present responsible products during customer visits and internal review meetings. Collect, implement, and maintain global voice of customer (VOC) feedback through qualitative and quantitative market research, customers and field engagement. Generate Customer Insights including definition of and segmentation of the market, value proposition, targeting and positioning, claims development, and user needs definition. Analyze VOC, sales data, and financials to quantify new opportunity, build NPV model, and near/long-range forecast. Create clear, compelling, data-driven recommendations, POVs and other deliverables that support annual marketing initiatives by using market research and insights from analytics to shape and refine product line(s) strategy. Participate and influence the product development team activities by representing VOC and commercially aligned inputs. Contribute input to in-house groups such as PMO, Operations, Finance, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory that affect the successful achievement of business objectives for responsible products. Build and maintain clear line of communication with all other areas that affect the products, including global downstream marketing partners, regional teams, R&D, clinical, regulatory, quality, and Program Management among others. Contribute to and execute the marketing strategic plans that drive the flow of new products to our customers in a manner that addresses customer needs, and highlights differentiation and value. Support downstream marketers in developing positioning, messaging, branding work based on the claim matrix and VOC. Support downstream marketers, regional teams, and commercial organizations in launching new products, and achieving Plan/Update objectives. External Communication- Interface with consultants, marketing research firms, other vendors, and customers to build and maintain strong relationship, effectively manage all activities within budget and compliance. The Product Manager is responsible for achievement of the goals and objectives of Global Marketing, the Division, and each of the Areas. Performance will be monitored versus the annual marketing plan, and execution against the action items and financial objectives. Must ensure compliance with the Quality System, and all Ethics/Compliance guidelines. Must work within budget guidelines. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree: Masters Preferred (Major/Field of study - Marketing, Business, Life Science/Biomedical Engineering, or Systems Engineering related field) 4+ years of relevant experience
(or master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience) in international marketing/product management in the medical device, life science research, pharma or diagnostics industry. Must be able to maintain regular and predictable attendance. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare industry, and/or medical device experience preferred. Strong ability to work cross functionally, understand various needs across diverse functions, and prioritize work according to business unit needs. Experience prioritizing and managing project initiatives across multiple functions and/or business units. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business model. Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced changing environment -- multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong project management, team skills, and influential management. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to travel, potentially approximately 10%, including internationally.
