As the largest independent wholesale food distributor in the U.S., with 15 distribution centers from coast-to-coast, Harvest Sherwood is an essential business. We buy, sell and deliver fresh, high-quality protein products and other foods to over 6,000 retail and foodservice customers. Router Essential Job Functions: The Router will be assigned duties based on organizational needs and priorities. Use system routing software to effectively route all customer orders daily. Check route request data and street maps to determine appropriate route. Transmit messages and ensure accurate receipt and understanding. Log information relating to schedule of drivers and customers. File data and perform other routine clerical tasks required by regulations. Monitor alarms and notify proper agencies when necessary. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service. Manage computer dispatch systems and maintain customer relationships in the dispatch and supervision of drivers on loads. Ensure driver compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Complete daily reporting of Routing Activity. Facilitate all over-the-road breakdowns, accidents, weather delays, and any route exceptions as needed. Make weekly schedules for drivers, shuttle drivers, and hub drivers. Router schedule is Sunday through Friday; will work holidays as needed for next day business. Work with sales on locations and their delivery window(s). Have clear open communication with Sales Office as things change with routing throughout the day for next day deliveries. Communicate with Drivers start times and off days for the following days. Qualifications: Great communication and computer skills are a must.
