GENERAL SUMMARY:


Responsible for the overall operational and financial success of multiple areas, including Retail stores and Marketing for Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada (GSVNN) and its affiliated entities. Drives the aggressive and successful growth of the company P&L, in partnership with the President and CEO, by providing leadership and coordinated direction to the Retail leadership team. Fosters and implements a winning culture centered on employee experience and engagement. Leverages efficient operations, positive customer experience, and leadership development to effectively serve all customers and generate maximum revenue to fund the mission.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Operations:

  • Monitors and controls operating and capital budgets for Retail operations – Delivers against Revenue, People, Customer Satisfaction, and other appropriate targets.
  • Responsible for the formulation and implementation of effective sales strategies as well as implementing general policies established by the GSVNN executive team.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all Retail processes both internal and external.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
  • Ensures financial success through budget management, staff management and development, reporting, and adherence to scorecards.
  • Reports on and advises the CEO and Board of Directors regarding organizational progress as it relates to areas of operational responsibility.
  • Attends Corporate Board Meetings as established and/or upon request of the CEO.
  • Develops, maintains, and shares perspectives on the competitive landscape as they relate to customer experience strategies and product/service strategies.
  • Oversees the strategic direction on communications and marketing projects and issues.
  • Represents GSVNN in both internal and external activities, promoting its fundraising and mission in all aspects.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with local business leaders, the community, and other public, private, and not-for-profit agencies.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and execution of growth strategies designed to further the sustained

success of GSVNN, in conjunction with the leadership team.

  • Provides oversight and care for all GSVNN Retail operational assets. Maintains proper business controls across all business aspects (integrity, ethics, safety, store/grounds appearance, overall store atmosphere and operations).
  • Ensures all new store proposals meet the required return on sales prior to submitting any recommendations to the President & CEO.
  • Assists with managing store portfolios and real estate decisions, working as a partner with the Executive team.
  • Partners closely with other GSVNN leadership to ensure external marketing efforts are effective, efficient, and focused on company needs.
  • Leads the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of GSVNN.
  • Promotes and maintains corporate compliance and ethics standards under federal, state, and local regulations and GSVNN policies.
  • Serves as member of Executive Leadership Team in providing executive leadership and direction to the company.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Retail, Marketing & Communications leadership.
  • Ensures appropriate mix of developing internal talent and hiring external talent to ensure the sustained success of the organization and succession planning.
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Business, related field or equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.
  • 15+ years of experience in a multi-unit thrift and/or retail operation of at least $100M+.
  • Sales and sales management experience required. Marketing, Merchandising, and Administration experience desired.
  • Is knowledgeable and has experience with key emerging customer experience trends and has a creative entrepreneurial approach to solutions building.
  • Strong understanding of multi-channel solution building with emphasis on emerging channels including social media, mobile, POS, and CRM technology.
  • 10+ years of corporate leadership experience in a large, complex, and high-volume sales organizational structure.
  • Sound knowledge of strategic planning, revenue development, marketing, and asset protection.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills that can be adjusted based on varying audiences (e.g., senior leadership, front-line team members, Board members, community, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering cross-functionally to meet enterprise goals.
  • Excellent knowledge of thrift retail operations and marketing principles and practices, including the development of high performing teams, with strong talent assessment skills.
  • Well versed in applicable compliance issues, laws, and government regulations as they apply to the organization and its operational lines.
  • Valid drivers' license and clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.

POSITION INFORMATION:


This position is a full time, exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Flex-Time Off.


WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:


  • Limited hazards due to lifting, pulling and pushing merchandise and bins by self or others.
  • Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility. Work environment usually hectic (fast paced) with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations.
  • Field of work includes office, production area and store showroom.
