What we are looking for: JARS is seeking an Assistant Manager who will be responsible for assisting in managing all day-to-day operations of the dispensary in accordance with the state, CRA and Company rules and policies. As our Assistant Store Manager, you aid the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the store as needed. You train, coach, and motivate our Retail Representatives to be the most knowledgeable, respected sales associates in the industry. The Assistant Manager provides support to the General Manager, Retail Representatives, Floor Leads and Receptionists. This includes: sales coaching, training, providing policy and procedure updates, keeping updated with industry news and product information.
The day-to-day Assistant Manager responsibilities will revolve around supporting the in-store team, fostering an exception customer experience, and ensuring smooth store operations.
This successful candidate will also undergo a mandatory training through our groundbreaking JARS University training. This training is done both virtually and in-person at our mock-store training facility to ensure that our staff is well-educated and trained on JARS' policies, procedures and company culture.
Job Duties
- Communicate with and coach staff on a regular basis to ensure the dispensary's excellence in sales & service
- Placing store supplies orders with General Manager approval
- Participate in implementing best practices, regulatory processes, internal policies, and standardized procedures
- Carries out all assigned operational, sales and retail tasks put forth by the company
- Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety, inventory control, and loss prevention
- Assist General Manager with interviews, disciplinary actions, performance reviews and trainings
- Assists with Inventory tasks when needed and requested
- Serves as a resource for dispensary staff concerning products and services, policies and procedures, industry news and changes in regulations
- Responds to all staff questions, concerns or suggestions
- Resolves any conflict immediately
- Manage and inspire internal staff to deliver the highest level of customer service that embodies the JARS brand, therefore, increasing customer retention
- Utilize reporting tools available on POS system to motivate employees to push sales and promotions
- Serve as the locations secondary point-of-contact in the absence of the GM
- Manage and provide training for internal staff to consistently deliver the highest level of customer service
- Makes sure marketing materials and displays are installed properly within the store
- Promote a culture of teamwork by working alongside the management team, establishing priorities, and providing clear direction
- Be knowledgeable of, and ensure compliance with JARS policies, procedures, and standards
- Direct and communicate goals and duties with Retail Representatives and Floor Leads
- Maintain a strong, professional, and communicative relationship with the General Manager
- Other duties may be assigned, as needed or warranted, by upper management
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working in retail & hospitality
- Prior experience in management role is strongly preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Ability to identify top talent and train/develop/retain great people
- Knowledge of or a willingness to learn state specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Treats people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational goals
- Must have Team Player mentality
- Must have strong mathematical and accounting skills
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
Work Atmosphere/Physical Demands
- Requires prolonged standing and some bending, stooping, and stretching
- Ability to operate a computer, POS system and other office equipment
- Moving up to 30 pounds on occasion
- Work will generally be performed in a fast-paced retail cannabis dispensary
- Involves frequent contact with patients and staff
- Will require working varied hours/day, including nights weekends, holidays, and/or events on occasion
