The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving the development and execution of strategies to grow the business and achieve revenue goals. This individual will identify and pursue new market opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and strengthen existing client relationships. The role requires a strong understanding of industry trends, competitor activities, and the company’s products or services to make informed decisions that align with the company’s vision and financial goals.

Core Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Market Analysis

Develop in-depth knowledge of PRO-Spectus’ offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.

Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for this role aligned with company goals.

Conduct market research to identify potential new markets, segments, and customer needs.

Monitor competitive landscape and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations for potential growth areas.

Coordinate with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives.

Sales & Revenue Growth

Drive revenue growth by identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities.

Develop proposals and presentations to pitch the company’s offerings to potential clients. Lead end-to-end RFP process for these processes. Initiate the response, participate in solution creation, write the proposal, coordinate stakeholders, and collaborate with internal teams to create compelling proposals and presentations tailored to client needs and to win the business.

Work within the CRM technology to document and manage interactions and relationships with new and potential customers throughout the sales lifecycle. Leverage the CRM to improve customer satisfaction, enhance customer loyalty, and ultimately drive sales and revenue growth.

Collaborate with the sales team to set targets, measure performance, and adjust strategies as necessary.

Partnerships & Client Relationships

Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and strategic partners.

Identify and negotiate partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that align with the company’s growth objectives.

Lead negotiations with potential clients associated with the pipeline for this role to establish contractual agreements, design program and pricing structures, and service level agreements for the business.

Act as a liaison between the company and external stakeholders, representing the brand with professionalism and integrity.

Budget & Performance Management

Manage business development budgets and resources, ensuring efficient allocation for maximum ROI.

Track key performance metrics, prepare regular reports, and communicate progress to senior leadership.

Make data-driven decisions to adjust plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

Skills / Requirements:

Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities.

Solid understanding of life science industry including market access, patient support, reimbursement services, and/or channel strategy concepts with the ability to translate solutions for life science key stakeholders.

Proficiency with CRM software and data analysis tools.

High level of adaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Goal-oriented and results-driven.

Excellent relationship-building skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities.

Creative, resourceful, and able to thrive under pressure.

Education, Certifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.

8+ years of relevant experience (i.e. life science, consulting, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, business development, product management, project management, or related field) with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.

Physical Requirements:

As a remote-forward organization, this position operates in a virtual professional office environment and teleworking from the employee’s home address listed in their employment file.

Willingness and ability to travel as needed to engage with clients, attend industry events and visit key accounts. (40-60%)

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Speaking.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Flexibility of working hours to support activities across EST to PST zones. We prefer someone in PT or MT time zone.

Note:

This position is a base salary plus commission structured role.
