With 50 locations and 100 programs in NYC’s most under-served communities, our 1,000+ results-oriented professionals make a difference for more than 40,000 children and their families each year . Summary The Family and Community Engagement Advisor is responsible for promoting family wellness, building community partnership, and operating as a liaison between programs, classroom and home settings in the area of family engagement, child development, and mental health services. Essential Functions: ● Monitor and maintain full enrollment in assigned centers. ● Oversee the development and monitor progress of Family Engagement Goal Setting. ● Provide recommendations and referrals for relevant community resources. ● Monitor compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations including but not limited to the Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Act using data management systems (PROMIS, WES, ETO, Pre-Kids). ● Establish and maintain two-way communication with parents and agency staff to promote parental involvement, quality service delivery, and opportunities for active program involvement and participation. ● Provide crisis intervention when needed and report, document, and monitor child abuses. ● Participate in recruitment efforts/activities for assigned sites. ● Coordinate and facilitate staff and parent workshops, and assist with parent orientation, and transition workshops. ● Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field. ● 1 year of experience working in Human Services, Psychology or related field that included course work in the principles of social work, child development, counseling and/or psychology. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
● Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task. ● Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. 6 Qualifications Preferred: ● Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs. Job Behavioral Expectations: ● Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures. ● Safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity standards. ● Maintain an understanding of the principles, methods and processes needed to perform the job. Attends staff meetings, seminars and in-service training as assigned. ● Demonstrates the ability to complete work in an acceptable manner by the time and/or date established with accuracy, neatness and thoroughness and minimal amount of errors. ● Maintain established departmental policies and procedures including maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to all HIPAA guidelines at all times.
