What You’ll Do:
Facilitate the importation of product (& export as required) to satisfy and ensure the organization’s compliance with U.S and foreign Customs agencies requirements
Ensure all products being imported globally are properly classified (HTS) as per current U.S. or the foreign country’s Customs guidelines
Conduct compliance audits to ensure all aspects of the entry are accurate (HTS, valuation, markings, COO etc.)
Manage the duty drawback and foreign Customs tariff dispute processes if necessary
Audit Customs entries to ensure accurate declaration of value, HTS classification and tariff treatment and communicate adjustments to Logistics/3PL Partners
Maintain our compliance database, ensuring it is up to date with correct product classification and assist foreign vendors in classifying OW owned products
Classify products using the Importing country’s Harmonized Systems
Maintain system for monitoring import tariffs and changes in tariff regulations affecting materials and equipment for shipments into the United States.
Work with our internal Logistics stakeholders and contracted global IORs to ensure all inbound products are accurately and timely cleared through Customs
Monitor timeliness and accuracy of customs entries and releases
Manage and own the bond and ATA Carnet processes
Support Global Trade Compliance Director in any training requirements, developing and coordinating internal training as needed
Work with Global Trade Compliance Director and Logistics Directors to audit global Importer of Record service providers and freight forwarders documentation for Quarterly Business Reviews
Assist Global Trade Compliance Director in developing, implementing and maintaining procedures and controls to ensure company-wide compliance with Global Trade Compliance programs
Manage record keeping requirements to meet Global Importer of Record regulatory needs
Create/update Standard Operating Procedures for Customs operations
Maintain and manage internal Incident Management process system for all Customs investigations and/or violations and liaise with relevant departments and stakeholders (i.e. Logistics, Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal and PM etc.) regarding pertinent compliance issues and opportunities
Process and resolve customs clearance related inquiries from customs brokers and internal business partners to ensure supply chain continuity
Stay up-to-date with customs and other government agencies’ regulations (through attending local seminars and reviewing trade publications)
What it Takes:
Demonstrated understanding of Domestic and foreign Customs Regulations and requirements, U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) provisions
Experience with in-bond regulatory compliance, opening and closing in-bonds
Experience with ATA Carnet application and lifecycle management
Customs broker license (license in process is acceptable); U.S. Citizenship required
Experience with ACE portal for AES/EEI filings
Working knowledge of Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), Foreign Trade Agreements (FTAs), Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs globally, and Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
Working knowledge of BIS licensing portal SNAP-R
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s degree relevant to the field or equivalent experience
What We’d Love:
Experience in developing and auditing compliance programs
USDOT Transportation of Hazardous Materials Certification
IATA Dangerous Goods Transport Certification
U.S. Export Administration Regulation (EAR) experience
International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) experience
EU Dual Use regulatory experience
UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation experience
5+ years of customs brokerage experience
5+ years of experience in International Logistics Compliance
