This is an on-site position.

The Applications Analyst II serves as a senior technical team member with respect to the ongoing maintenance and support of the University Student Information System, and other enterprise systems. The position builds, maintains and supports new and existing complex applications and interfaces to support various offices on campus by integrating systems. The individual in this position also develops reports and deliverables per end user requirements. He/she meets with end users to analyze problems, develop solutions and configure applications to the appropriate specifications.

Primary Duties:

  • Serve as senior technical team member with respect to ongoing maintenance, upgrade and support of University Student Information System
  • Meet with end users to determine business needs and requirements for process automation/integration
  • Design, code, test and deploy new technology solutions for various offices as needed
  • Develop and follow best practices with respect to system configuration, data standards, integrity, and reporting
  • Respond to and resolve application and SIS related trouble tickets for end users
  • Refine data, maintain existing technology solutions and code change requests
  • Analyze the performance of existing technology solutions and take action to correct inefficiencies/troubleshoot system related issues
  • Maintain proper programming documentation
  • Implement relevant system updates, upgrades and changes following approved change control methodology.

Secondary Duties:

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of various departmental processes to facilitate applications support, requirement gathering and the software development lifecycle
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and programming languages, adapt to changing technology and seek ways to utilize emerging technology solutions
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with a minimum of 3 years programming/analyst experience. Extensive experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Experience writing and maintaining advanced SQL queries
  • Extensive experience with relational databases, SQL Server, TSQL, SSIS and SSRS or other reporting tools
  • Experience in a higher education environment preferred
  • Administrative experience with one or more of the following: Jenzabar EX/J1 or other Student Information System, CRMs, and other database-dependent applications.
  • Experience automating processes and creating APIs a plus

Other Qualifications

  • Strong problem solving, quantitative, and analytical ability
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment while keeping a customer service attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed (e.g., mail merge, data base management). Familiarity with specific applications used by the University/Department a plus
  • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents on a university campus
  • Able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audience
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision
  • Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public
