To perform financial analysis and provide support for annual budget. Maintain and gather data from existing reports to provide meaningful tools for management’s strategic planning and financial decisions.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities are shared across all Financial Analyst employees as directed by Finance Manager.

Perform financial analysis and related analytical reporting

  • Analyze activities that drive DAV costs, create supporting reports, and make recommendations to executive management for cost savings and strategic planning. Provide explanation of variance and trends
  • Gather data (from existing reports and/or newly created reports) and present in a combined and meaningful format to assist DAV management with strategic financial decisions
  • Review budget vs. actual financial reports. Investigate difference and report on such. Make recommendations as needed
  • Perform additional analysis as requested by Finance Manager and or Assistant Comptroller
  • Use reports (FYISoft, Crystal Reporting or any other required tool for extracting data) to accomplish dynamic and ongoing financial analysis. Report should be systematic rather than manual where all possible
  • Help develop managerial reports to assist Comptroller and other organizational leaders in monitoring various costs and revenue
  • Assist with presentations and project reporting as needed

Cash flow

  • Develop and update cash flow analysis
  • Assist with cash flow estimates and cash flow projections for DAV and specific initiatives, as requested

Prepare budgets and projections

  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of DAV’s annual budget including security and budget calculations. Automate calculation as much as possible and provide flexibility in changing assumptions where necessary
  • Create and maintain budget assumptions work papers to assist departments for calculating accurate and realistic budgets
  • Assist in the preparation of finance memos and presentations to the executive leaders
  • Perform various projects as requested by the Finance Manager & Assistant Comptroller
  • Cross-trained in duties, as assigned by the Finance Manager

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office with an ability to handle complex analysis in Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to assist in presentation of analysis and findings in an understandable format
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in related field of study
  • Experience with personal and applicable software packages
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application of the day-to-day accounting activities of DAV
  • Working knowledge of current tax laws preferred but not required
  • Prior relevant experience preferred but not required
