Position Summary

As a Survey / GIS Analyst your focus will be on the land survey side helping map out existing conditions through data collection and post processing, help determine existing property boundary and easement lines, help establish new easements, new lots, new subdivisions and prepare final maps and exhibits for each. You will interact with survey field crews on construction projects, engineering and water resource teams interpreting plans for construction.

Duties and Qualifications:

Candidate will have A.S. in surveying or civil engineering or BA/BS in a geographic information science field plus two (2) years of experience or equivalent work experience of five (5) years.

Experience and responsibilities include:

  • A willingness to work in a team atmosphere and multi-task in support of several simultaneous projects
  • Analysis of boundaries and field data
  • Preparation, and processing of ALTA’s, final maps, parcel maps, and record of surveys
  • An understanding of cartographic principals (preparing maps and exhibits together to help tell the story of the survey.)
  • Ability to work with municipal agencies for research and map processing purposes in Arizona counties including interaction with GIS teams, GIS datasets and GIS web applications.
  • Construction staking calculations (pre and post layouy)
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents
  • The ability to think logically, concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

Strong computer skills, proficiency with AutoCAD / Civil-3D and ArcMap/ArcPro is required.

Additional tasks include:

  • Preparing legal descriptions and exhibits
  • Processing data collection from the field
  • Working with aerial imagery and lidar data sets
  • Coordinating with design teams and field personnel
  • Preparation of GIS data sets for agency use (Shapefiles, ESRI file geodatabase)

Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with the basics of boundary principles as well as geometry and trigonometry.
