What you will do as a Credit Analyst
You will start your career as a Credit Analyst with a group of other energetic college graduates who are ready to start their banking career, like you. Your first 8 weeks will be filled with extensive commercial credit training in Grand Rapids, MI. After your training is complete you will begin to use your new knowledge and analytical abilities to conduct thorough assessments of client financial information. You will figure out how companies make money by examining crucial factors such as cash flow, collateral, and guarantor support. As an excellent communicator with stellar written and presentation skills, you will prepare a write-up and present your findings to our managers and lenders, paying particular attention to a borrower's ability to repay. Your insightful evaluation is invaluable to our lending team and helps them decide whether to invest bank capital with a particular borrower.
Each credit request presents a different set of challenges that you will take the initiative to quickly learn to address as you accept more and more complex requests. You career doesn't stop as a Credit Analyst. Our Credit Analysts are highly sought for future leadership and sales positions within the bank. In addition to the competencies listed above we look for the following when considering our top candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in finance or accounting.
- College GPA of 3.2, 3.5 or higher preferred.
- Previous internship experience in business or finance is preferred.
- It is our preference that all Credit Analysts work in Grand Rapids for their first year of service. After one year Credit Analysts will transition to their home market in Traverse City, Mount Pleasant, Lansing, Troy, Holland or Grand Rapids. We will talk about this during the interview process.
Work Schedule
As a full-time Credit Analyst, you will typically work from 8 am - 5 pm, but more hours may be needed for extra study or for putting your best foot forward.
