Position: Credit Analyst

Department: Credit Risk

Status: Full Time regular

Description: With direction, the Credit Analyst will analyze and risk-assess credit applications for commercial loans to ensure compliance with the bank’s credit risk strategy and the bank’s credit policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Review commercial loan applications and analyze credit information to make a general assessment of applicant’s credit worthiness and a preliminary determination whether or not the proposed loan will conform to the bank’s lending policies and guidelines;
  • With guidance from Senior Credit Risk Officer, prepare written summary of commercial loan terms and conditions and a written narrative explaining business background, outlining risk factors and justifying assigned risk ratings, ensuring conformity with bank credit policy and procedures and with applicable banking regulations.
  • Analyze financial statements and projections on spreadsheet software and develop the ability to produce independent, supported projections of customer performance.
  • Research industry trends and norms.
  • Prepare reports to include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or money
  • Recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings, purchase activity and payment history
  • Prepare periodic reviews as necessary on existing loan relationships.
  • Actively participate with lending officers in the preparation of commercial loan proposals for committee presentation, including review of financial statements, projections, site visits, and customer calls.
  • Review, analyze and risk-assess criticized assets and problem loans to make a general assessment of the credit’s ability to repay the loan according to the terms and covenants set forth in the loan agreement;
  • With guidance from the Senior Credit Risk Officer or Credit Administrator, develop a workout loan policy and procedures, and implement the necessary workout strategies.
  • Actively participate with lending officers in the implementation of workout strategies, and review and report the evaluation of collateral associated with criticized assets and problem loans.
  • Various other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with Accounting emphasis plus 2 years related experience; combination of education and work experience may be acceptable
  • Commercial lending experience and an existing knowledge of the Lawton marketplace is preferred
  • Ability to travel when needed (conferences, seminars, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with other banking professionals, including loan officers, loan processors, appraisers, accountants, and auditors
  • Good organization skills, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
