EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CONGREGATION BETH SHOLOM, ROCHESTER, NY 14620OVERVIEW:Congregation Beth Sholom is a growing Modern Orthodox Zionist Congregation in Rochester, NY with over 170 families. For nearly 100 years, Beth Sholom has and continues to be a pillar of the Rochester Jewish community.Since welcoming Rabbi Dov Winston as our Senior Rabbi, Beth Sholom has experienced a renaissance with a growth in programming, learning opportunities and membership. We are seeking a dynamic, talented and dedicated leader to work in tandem with Rabbi Winston and the leadership team of our shul to continue bringing Beth Sholom into the future.The Executive Director (ED) position is an incredible opportunity for an experienced professional who is a multi-talented manager and enjoys working with people. The Executive Director will work closely with our office and building staff, volunteer core, Senior Rabbi, and Board of Directors.BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
Included, but not limited to:The ED will be a proactive partner with Rabbi Winston and the lay leadership of Congregation Beth Sholom.The ED will act as the central administrator responsible for the operational, financial and administrative activities of the synagogue including staff, finances, facilities, member relations and fundraising.The ED will work to maintain a welcoming and safe atmosphere for congregants, visitors and staff.The ED will plan short-term and long-term goals along with Rabbi Winston and the Board and be a leader in achieving them.The ED will have knowledge of computer, web-based systems and social media to support events, membership and marketing.The ED will attend all Board of Directors meetings and relevant committee meetings.The ED will be available to work full time in the Synagogue Office.QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a related field preferred.2+ years of demonstrable leadership and management experience in a not-for-profit organization, ideally in a Synagogue or other Jewish organization.Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of financial and budgeting practices.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.Preference will be given to candidates who have additional Synagogue skills such as leading tefillot, reading from the Torah and shofar blowing.COMPENSATION:
Anticipated salary range $65K - $80K; final compensation commensurate with experience. The position also includes health care, retirement plan, paid vacation, family leave, and synagogue membership.
