Sr. Product Manager - Connected Consumer Products

JOB PURPOSE

The Product Manager combines innovative thinking and analytics with an understanding of market dynamics to develop and manage the next generation of best-selling connected consumer products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OTHER DUTIES

Manage the product development process from concept through successful launch by working closely with industrial and graphic designers, engineering, sales, finance, operations, external manufacturing, and other product development team members.

Along with Category Director, develop product strategies and roadmaps, identifying the function, feature set, and desired look of a product with a focus on products that stand out in the marketplace and resonate with the customer.

Develop and manage products and programs across multiple trade channels.

Develop and maintain competitive studies of relevant products and categories, utilizing syndicated market performance data such as retail POS, NPD, Nielsen, etc.

Seek out and apply knowledge of new trends and innovation to identify new products and opportunities within packaging, merchandising, and other communication vehicles.

Guide the App Development process working with Engineering, IOT, and external vendors.

Develop a robust content management plan, work with external content providers, and deliver meaningful content to increase value to the consumer.

Monitor category performance to ensure sales volume and profit goals are met.

Work hand in hand with the sales organization to prepare and deliver presentations to key customers as the product matter expert.

Daily communication with partner factories in Asia.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or other relevant areas.

Minimum 5 years of relevant product development/marketing experience.

Proven track record of developing cutting-edge consumer products successful in the retail marketplace.

Strong product development background with knowledge of product management throughout the entire product life cycle.

Minimum of 2 years in development of IOT or connected consumer devices.

Experience managing a consumer product with evolving content as part of the value proposition is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture with changing priorities.

Available to work extended hours on occasion.

Willing and available to travel, including overseas travel on short notice.
