Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Delivery Driver for our Visalia, California warehouse.


Job Summary:

Load and deliver products in a timely and organized fashion. Adhere to all driving laws and safety practices while reflecting professionalism and courtesy as a representative of Midwest Veterinary Supply to the clinics they serve. Availability in mornings and/or two to three full days per week.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish a route plan by referencing manifest summary, verify package counts, and load truck accordingly. Complete a vehicle inspection (ie. lights, tires, brakes) before every departure.
  • Drive assigned truck and deliver products in a safe and responsible manner while adhering to all driving laws.
  • Deliver packages to the area designated by the clinic. Recheck package counts and special instructions (ie. COD) and have someone at the clinic sign for the delivery. Pick up any preauthorized product returns.
  • Communicate with branch and/or warehouse manager in regard to problems experienced with or expressed by clinics.
  • Ensure that the assigned truck is in sound operational condition by scheduling regular maintenance (ie. oil changes) and communicating concerns to the appropriate manager.


Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
  • Experience as a delivery driver is preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License – Specific Driver’s License and DOT requirements (ie. DOT Medical Card, CDL, random drug testing) to depend on such factors as delivery route and vehicle driven.
  • Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (such as verifying a string of numbers)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently

  • Attention to detail critical for route planning and ensuring accurate delivery
  • Regular interaction with people, team-player
  • Fast pace of work, requires multi-tasking
  • Potential stress related to weather and traffic conditions
  • Vision: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Repetitive motion: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying
  • Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods
  • Bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching
  • Physical challenges related to severe weather, traffic jams, bad road conditions, detours, and potential mechanical problems, to include the ability to sit for long periods of time

Equipment Used:

Windows based computer, tape gun, safety knife, 2-way radio, safety equipment, markers, forklift, label equipment, packaging materials, safety inspected vehicle, hand cart


Work Environment:

Availability in mornings and/or two to three full days per week. Work will be performed on the road and clinic to clinic year-round and will include exposure to all seasonal elements. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Depending upon route driven, may require overnight stays. May require handling of products with cautious warning labels. This is a safety sensitive position.
