Posted: 10 months ago The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) seeks an experienced and dedicated professional to be its next Vice President for Enrollment Management. This individual will lead GSSM’s efforts to identify, recruit, and admit highly capable and motivated students who are ready for the school’s advanced programs and will positively contribute to its rich culture and community of achievement. Reporting directly to the president and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President works collaboratively with internal and external constituencies to develop a comprehensive recruitment and admission plan that supports GSSM’s strategic plan goals. This is a permanent, full-time position in Hartsville, South Carolina, with benefits provided through the State of South Carolina. GSSM is nationally recognized for the quality of its advanced STEM, humanities, student research, and international programs. Our faculty and staff share a passion for their disciplines and a commitment to inspire and lead students to achieve their best while fostering the joy of learning. GSSM is a public high school serving 11th-12th grade students residentially and 10th-12th grades through virtual programs. GSSM’s Outreach Center engages over 8,000 elementary and middle school students through various STEM educational programs around the state in partnership with several school districts. Qualifications Master’s degree is required in counseling, student affairs administration, educational leadership, or a related field; Ph.D. is preferred.
Eight years of related experience in admissions, including recruitment, budgetary and personnel responsibilities, strategic planning, and program development. Preference will be given to candidates with admissions experience at selective high schools or small colleges recruiting in a competitive environment.
Proven track record for creatively and effectively growing enrollment in a competitive environment, with experience recruiting and supporting a diverse student population. The significant areas of responsibility for this position include: Developing, implementing, and continually evaluating a comprehensive multi-year institutional strategic enrollment management plan that emphasizes measurable recruitment and enrollment priorities, goals, and objectives aligned with GSSM’s strategic plan.
Building strategic internal and external partnerships to support enrollment success and objectives, including partnering with appropriate stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive enrollment marketing strategy to support recruitment goals.
Providing oversight for all recruitment efforts and admissions processes, including developing prospect and inquiry pools, converting prospects to completed applications, ensuring timely application processing and review, and achieving enrollment goals.
Leading the Admissions and Enrollment office through the effective management of personnel in all enrollment initiatives, events, and programming, including prospecting and recruitment of students, management and development of recruiting territories, strategic resource management, and efforts to ensure the adequate yield of admitted students.
Creating and delivering high-quality recruiting events across the state and facilitating communication and cooperation within and among GSSM constituents to support enrollment objectives.
Building relationships across the state by traveling to school districts, participating in conferences, and other out-of-the-building enrollment-related opportunities.
