Role Overview

Legend Biotechnology is at the forefront of developing innovative cell-based therapies. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic principal scientist to support our in vivo CAR-T cell therapy program. If you're passionate about advancing groundbreaking treatments and have a strong background in cellular immunotherapy, this role is for you. The successful candidate should possess extensive knowledge and research experience in cell therapy and cancer biology, with a comprehensive understanding of tumorigenesis, TME, and immunotherapy. Experience with in vivo tissue/cell-specific gene delivery in animal models is preferred. The candidate will contribute to developing in vivo cell therapy platforms through vector design, in vitro function assays, and assay development of virus PK and PD in animal models. Nano/viral particle characterization using cytometry is a plus. 3-5 years in biotech or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

You will collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams, including research, development, and manufacturing, to drive the successful translation of preclinical findings into clinical applications. Your expertise will be critical in advancing our mission to improve patient outcomes. The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to deliver scientific results with integrity and meet timelines, show the value of collaboration and teamwork, and provide expertise and team support in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop cell and gene therapy platform and optimize cell-based immunoassays, including vector design, VLP design, virus packaging and titering, immune cell isolation and expansion, multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, cytotoxic assays, VCN analysis.

Design experiments to optimize process parameters and enhance cell engineering and manufacturing capacity.

Independently design and execute experiments, document and interpret scientific results, and present the data to cross-functional teams.

Stay alert to industry developments and have a good sense of new tech/platforms in the field.

Deliver results to meet timelines with accountability.

Lab support work.

Requirements

Education: PhD in virology, immunology, or cell biology, or a master’s degree with extensive experience.

Experience: 3-5 years in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred, with 2-3 years of industry experience in cell and gene therapy preferred.

Key Capabilities, Knowledge, and Skills: Molecular biology, vector design, gene-editing, animal models.
