We are currently looking for a Forklift Operator for immediate hire. The ideal candidate must be dedicated, hard-working, and punctual.
Our Miami plant is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; therefore, the Forklift Operator is expected to extend working hours and/or work the night shift to accommodate emergency coverage or to complete work in progress.
Essential Functions
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
- Load, unload, pack, unpack, label, and sort incoming and outgoing materials and shipments.
- Relocate items within the warehouse or on the dock, operating machinery such as forklifts or winches when necessary.
- Track inventory of all incoming and outgoing items and verify the quality and condition of materials before shipping.
- Pick, pack, secure, and label customer orders in an efficient and accurate manner, following company and industry guidelines.
- Handle and properly dispose of hazardous waste materials when required.
- Physically manipulate drums, pails, and boxes as needed to access products.
- Verify quality control, condition of material prior to picking and shipping.
- Complete shipping documentation and maintain housekeeping and material handling equipment according to company standards.
- Handle hazardous waste in the normal performance of their duties.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.
- Able to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends during peak season.
- Perform other duties as instructed.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years previous experience in a warehouse, shipping, or material handling role, preferred.
- Forklift operation certification, preferred.
- Hazardous materials handling training or certification, preferred.
- Understand and follow oral/written instructions, work well with culturally diverse people.
- Communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrates the ability to focus on tasks, whether complex, routine, or repetitive, without losing concentration or being distracted by external activities.
- Capable of adapting to interruptions, equipment failures, unusual demands, or changing priorities.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the environment is moderately noisy. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and stand for extended periods.
Exterior environment involves hazards, requiring the use of protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, and noise. May be required to wear Half Face piece Respirators, work on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions.
Hazards include possible exposure to toxic, corrosive, or flammable chemicals. Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.)
The technicians' work involves being around dangerous equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to discriminate against color is helpful.
