Montgomery Hospice Careers
Position Summary: The Director of Education provides strategy and leadership to the education department. This position develops, implements and oversees the organization's educational programming including new employee orientation, staff competencies, in-services and continuing education. Also understands the importance of staff education as it relates to retention, quality care and organizational growth. Works collaboratively with hospice leaders to ensure education needs are met within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for clinical competency development for all clinical disciplines and clinical orientation/development programs, ensuring their relevance to the annual performance improvement plan.
Collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer in the reviews and analyses of adverse events (incidents reports and service concerns) and makes recommendations for practice enhancements, revision of curriculum, and QAPI initiatives based on findings.
Delivers curriculum programs on a variety of clinical topics as well as patient experience, QAPI, regulatory compliance, safety, and infection control, to comply with pertinent federal, state, and local standards, and requirements.
Responsible for creating, executing and supervising an effective preceptor program.
Collaborates with business development to coordinate community education.
Participates in NPHI, NHPCO and organizational committees as required.
Participate in QAPI Program and other relevant committees and participates in the creation of relevant education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Active and in good-standing Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse License.
Master’s degree in nursing sciences or related concentration required.
CHPN required. Grace period of 6 months from date of hire.
Demonstrated competency in development and execution of clinical curriculum at a professional level.
Demonstrated understanding of clinical education methods and resources.
