Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Logistics Superintendent

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Job Summary

Forklift & Lull operators are responsible for operating and managing forklift and lull machinery to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage facilities and to assist in the movement of items on the manufacturing floor during the process of operations with skids, piping, MCups, and other manufacturing tools & items.

Essential Functions:

  • Comply with company policies and guidelines
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends
  • Experience with other types of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks
  • Material Handling: Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials throughout the plant, including raw materials, finished products, and waste.
  • Inventory Management: Transport materials to designated storage areas, ensuring that inventory is organized and accessible. Assist with inventory counts and documentation as needed.
  • Production Support: Deliver materials to production lines in a timely manner to support continuous operation. Remove finished goods and transport them to designated storage or shipping areas.
  • Loading/Unloading: Efficiently load and unload trucks with materials and products, ensuring items are properly secured and accounted for.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Conduct daily inspections of the forklift and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other plant personnel, including production, shipping, and receiving teams, to ensure smooth operations and resolve any material handling issues.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the forklift and surrounding areas. Assist with general housekeeping duties as required.
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials and products for damage or defects during handling. Report any issues to the appropriate personnel.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed inside and outside with uncontrolled weather conditions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work

1st Shift 7:00AM - 3:30PM Monday-Friday

2nd Shift 3:00PM – 1:30AM Monday-Thursday

NOTE: May be assigned to work any shift. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Related experience or training
  • Valid certification to operate forklifts

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 4+ years in tool / equipment maintenance field or
  • 2 years vocational technical training
  • Previous experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must have dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, clean back-ground check, and random drug screening consent.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the USA.
