Overview:
Qualified candidate for the Sergeant position ensures the protection of Parkwest Bicycle Casino property, assets, safety of customers, and team members for the shift under the direction of the Lieutenant. In addition to these requirements, the Sergeant is assigned shift administrative duties such as writing reports, conducting briefings and completing all shift related forms and duties in the absence of the Lieutenant.
Responsibilities:- Ensure that the security of the casino as well as its team members and customers are met in a manner that exemplifies our core values, meets established quality standards, and are in compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
- In the absence of the Lieutenant, individual functions as Watch Commander.
- Respond to all incidents on casino property promptly and professionally. Enforce all State of California and federal laws, including those set by the California Department of Justice Bureau of Gambling Control.
- Patrol the casino checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations; assist with mechanical investigation and Security Officers to ensure they are conducting regular area security checks and posts.
- Serve as the primary contact for floor personnel and management in the absence of the Security Lieutenant.
- Responsible for running the shift and has supervision of all staff to include tram drivers.
- Conduct and prepare complete reports for Security Manager, Legal and/or Human Resources.
- Establish and maintain positive law enforcement relations.
- Conduct security training and mentorship for Security Officers.
- Communicate to Security Lieutenant and Manager all critical incidents and required DOJ mandatory reporting.
- Other job related duties as assigned by the supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background and credit check, and drug test.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment team member permit, badge or license.
- Possesses a current CPR/First Aid certificate or can receive this certificate within 1 month of hire.
- Must understand the limits of California penal code 832 and how it applies to Security/Surveillance Officers.
- Must be able to meet state/county-licensing requirements for casino security officers as well as any applicable state and county and municipal licensing requirements for security officers.
- Must possess or have the ability to gain a valid California Guard Card.
- Must possess a valid California Drivers license.
- Must be able to maintain professional composure in urgent or tense situations.
- Must wear uniform as directed.
- Must possess strong conflict resolution skills in dealing with customers and team members.
- Able to work varied shifts and flexible schedules.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and written skills.
- Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to display sound judgment.
- Must be able to obtain exposed firearm permit and baton & pepper spray certificate.
- MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD.
Education/ Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
At least three four years experience as a security officer or equivalent; one year of experience as a supervisor preferred; combination of education and experience also accepted.
Must be able to acquire and maintain armed status as a Sergeant.
Certifications/ Licenses & registrations:
Must have valid California Drivers License and an acceptable driving record as established by the Casinos insurer. Must have valid California guard card, CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. It is required to obtain a firearms Certification for semi-automatic pistol as directed by the Security Manager and carry this on duty, after meeting all armed status conditions.
