SGI Global is seeking a Security Assistant to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) - Southern District of New York.
Job Duties
- Provides support to the District's Reinvestigation Program. Review security documents of employees designated for background reinvestigation. Ensures security investigation requests are processed accurately and expeditiously.
- Performs quality reviews on the data and information submitted for consistency, completeness, and regulatory requirements. Refers documents with missing information to the originator for correction. Processes and protects sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality. Performs fingerprinting for updated security clearances and other purposes. Determines if prints taken are sufficiently readable for proper classification by the investigating agency.
- Processes requests and issues permanent picture identification cards/computerized access cards for District employees, contractor personnel, and extended visitor personnel. Receives and verifies personal identification data against authorized documents and enters required data into security database.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of all documents prior to issuance. Reissue replacement documents when required (e.g., mutilation, loss, or expiration).
- Monitors usage of active and inactive access cards. Controls and monitors the automated card access security system. Performs a variety of office administration duties such as inventorying COMSEC equipment (secure phones and faxes on a quarterly basis), receives, logs, and distributes accurate accounting of security phones, office cell phones; reconciles monthly bills; ordering office supplies for the DOSM and Security Office; screening incoming telephone calls and visitors, receiving and reviewing incoming correspondence and distributing same to the staff. Also prepares responses to routine information requests, prepares agendas for meetings and conferences and researches and assembles data for presentations, conferences and meetings.
- Produces a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced word processing software functions, working from handwritten draft, edited copy, or electronic files created by another staff member. Final copy may be in one of several formats, each requiring the use of advanced functions to perform extensive editing functions and frequently involving specialized terminology.
- Creates, copies, edits, makes insertions and deletions, and moves text throughout a single document and from one electronic word processing file to another. Stores, retrieves and prints a variety of documents to include those requiring complex formats such as graphics or tables within text. Ensures documents are in the proper format, and that spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar have been verified.
- As required, secures statistical or other information from files and related sources when required, and inputs selected information into appropriate database or spreadsheet files. Sorts, calculates, and retrieves data for standard reports, uses graphics software to provide graphic symbols, charts and graphs for viewgraphs.
- Performs escort duties for uncleared personnel who require access to the building. Maintains continuous visual observation of the individual(s) escorted at all times.
- Directs, obtains, maintains, and provides for proper usage of security equipment to meet the security objectives of the District. Ensures personnel are properly trained on various types of security equipment in regard to operation, care, and maintenance.
- High school diploma/GED or higher. College preferred
- Good communication skills
- Provide word processing and data entry/retrieval
- Ability to enter and retrieve data from databases
- Obtain additional information from other agencies/organizations
- Maintain internal status information on the disposition of designated information, files, and assets
- Provide administrative information and assistance concerning case or file to other agencies or organizations
