Position Overview:
As a Security Specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for security services at VOA locations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the safety of residents, shelter guests, and staff through effective communication, documentation, and incident response. This role requires stationary dispatch duties and mobile patrols, depending on the department's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety and security for all residents and staff at assigned VOA locations.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of property guidelines, physical layouts, and local law enforcement resources.
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols, monitor security cameras, and report any suspicious activities.
- Document incidents and maintain clear communication with necessary parties.
- Provide crowd control and adhere to policy regarding trespassing.
- Remain alert and available throughout your shift, including overnight.
- Participate in training and team meetings to enhance security practices.
- Full-time - 4 X 10 Schedule
- Night Shift (5:00 PM - 3:00 AM) based on availability and program needs.
- Some holiday shifts may be required.

Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of security or related experience, especially with at-risk populations
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check
- Experience in social work or crisis intervention
- Training in motivational interviewing and verbal de-escalation
- Familiarity with Fair Housing, Harm Reduction, and Housing First principles
