Job Description
Job Summary:
The Security Officer enforces regulations and procedures designed to prevent breaches of security, exercises judgment, and uses discretion in responding to incidents and emergencies, determining whether to intervene directly, ask for assistance as time permits, keep situation under control or surveillance, or to report incident or situation to the appropriate authority for handling. Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting controlled areas. Commonly, the Security Officer is required to meet rigorous physical fitness standards. The Security Officer is responsible for following all security and safety standard operating procedures established for the performance of Security Officer duties.
Duties:
- Ensures the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property by complying with and enforcing all laws, rules and policies within his/her scope of authority.
- Assists in the conduct of evaluation drills, fire drills, active shooter drills, etc. as required by the PRH.
- Secures premises and personnel by monitoring the entrance per standard procedures, patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and monitoring property access points.
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, redirecting trespassers.
- Completes reports as indicated when conducting investigations, recording observations, and/or conducting surveillance activities.
- Participates in preparation and enforcement of Center’s safety and fire prevention program, conducts foot patrols in all assigned areas, performs building security checks, and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
- Participates in staff training, models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards, prioritizes employability and professionalism in all student interactions.
- Assists in maintaining student security and accountability during training, day and evening, by continuously walking through those areas where students are being trained, having lunch, participating in dorm activities, recreational activities, and monitors grounds over entire Center.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management within the employee’s capabilities.

Experience: One year experience in a residential living setting and background in youth programs or law enforcement is preferred.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers’ License.
