The Construction Site Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding a construction site by monitoring access points, deterring unauthorized entry, preventing theft and vandalism, and reporting any suspicious activity or security breaches to relevant authorities. The officer also ensures the safety and protection of personnel, equipment, and property on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Access Control:
- Monitor and control entry points to the construction site, checking identification and verifying authorized access for all personnel, visitors, and contractors.
- Maintain accurate logs of individuals entering and exiting the site, including vehicle details.
- Issue visitor badges and enforce site access procedures.
Perimeter Patrols:
- Conduct regular patrols of the construction site perimeter, including fences, gates, and surrounding areas, to identify potential security vulnerabilities.
- Report any damage to fencing, gates, or security systems to the appropriate personnel.
- Monitor for signs of unauthorized entry or suspicious activity.
Surveillance and Observation:
- Utilize surveillance cameras and other monitoring systems to observe activity on the construction site, reporting any unusual or suspicious behavior.
- Maintain visual observation of key areas, including equipment storage, material deliveries, and work zones.
Incident Response:
- Respond promptly to any security incidents, including theft attempts, property damage, unauthorized access, or emergencies, and take appropriate action to mitigate the situation.
- Contact local law enforcement if necessary and document incident details thoroughly.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce site safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures.
- Report any safety hazards or potential risks observed on the site to the appropriate supervisor.
- Stay updated on relevant security protocols and legal requirements.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed logs of security activities, including observations, incidents, and visitor details.
- Prepare clear and concise reports on security issues and incidents, submitting them to the site supervisor or security manager on a regular basis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Security Experience: Previous experience as a security guard or in a similar role, preferably in a construction site environment.
- Observation Skills: Excellent ability to monitor and identify suspicious activity or potential security threats.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication skills to interact with site personnel, visitors, and law enforcement.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform outdoor patrols and remain alert for extended periods.
- Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in using basic computer systems to access and update security logs.
- Valid License: This may require a valid driver's and security guard license depending on local regulations.
- Must be available to work the 3:30 pm - 7:00 am shift.
