Job title: Security Coordinator

Reports to: Program Director

FLSA Status: Exempt Full Time

Date Issued: June 2021

POSITION SUMMARY:

To direct the facility’s security program in accordance with HPCDC Policies and Procedures and our funding source DHS; supervise security staff; and respond to emergency conditions in the facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans, directs, and organizes the operation of a twenty-four-hour security program.
  2. Recruits, hires, and trains all new security staff.
  3. Prepares staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage of each shift.
  4. Develops and implements plans for ongoing staff training and skill development.
  5. Serves as fire and safety director overseeing all safety related matters including:
    1. Evacuation procedures
    2. Enforcement of rules and regulations
    3. Correcting violations
    4. Liaison with police, fire department, and other enforcement agencies
    5. Schedule, conduct, and document fire drills
  6. Reviews and advises on safety related policies and procedures.
  7. Ensures preparation and timely delivery of monthly reports, incident reports and all required documentation.
  8. Holds regular staff meetings, ensures ongoing accurate communication, and attends scheduled staff and supervisory meetings.
  9. May be required to work weekends and night hours.

10.May advice personnel at other HPCDC sites on security related matters



  1. Minimum Required Education & Experience:
    • Associates Degree preferred.
    • Minimum five years of experience in law enforcement or related field; and two years of supervisory experience.
    • NYS Security Guard License
    • Fire Safety Director Certificate
    • Basic Computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook.
    • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or capacity to work with homeless families/individuals and/or disadvantaged populations
    • CPR/First Aid Certification
