Security Coordinator:

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County’s need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.

Job Description:

This position is located within the Agency/Organization. This position provides strategic leadership and direction to the organization to ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment for members of the community and visitors to the organization's headquarters and property. Ensures security practices and objectives are aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Establishes goals and objectives for the department and ensures they are met. Manages the department’s budget and allocates resources effectively. Fosters a positive organizational culture and promotes teamwork and collaboration.

Examples of Duties:

This Individual will conduct research on future safety and security needs with respect to the Organizations prioritizes to develop long-term Strategic Plans and short-term Action Plans to respond to emerging safety concerns. Estimates necessary staffing and additional resources required for near-term/ad-hoc projects and for long-term/permanent programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Security Division, ensuring the administration, deployment, and effective enforcement of a comprehensive, multi-discipline (personnel, information, industrial, and physical) security program.
  • Develops goals and objectives for personnel, information, industrial, and physical protection requirements for each of the functional security areas.
  • Establishes guidelines and procedures for accomplishing requisite personnel, information, industrial, and physical protection functions across the Agency.
  • Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards and metrics. Explain performance expectations to employees and provide regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
  • Directs, conducts and manages all program reviews, inspections, and prepares or ensures fulfillment of resulting reports, and monitors follow-up actions to ensure compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degrees in fields of study such as Psychology, Sociology, Community Health or Criminal Justice.

Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience working in the public or private sector on security issues

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of investigative practices and available sources of information with particular reference to Federal, State, and County information.
  • Knowledge of police crime statistics and databases
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Previous experience in police investigations or public safety is a plus.
  • Works well with people.


* Grade 22- Min: $65,642/ Mid: $86,890/ Max: $108,138 | Salary determined by departmental budget- Offer commensurate with experience
