Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Security Supervisor maintains a pro-active loss prevention program designed to ensure a safe and secure environment for hotel guests and employees. This includes the day-to-day operations of loss prevention, compliance with all federal and local requirements, supervision of staff and implementing and updating safety training programs. The Security Supervisor implements emergency and disaster preparedness programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the safety and well-being of guests, residents, team members and hotel property.
- Ensures that all hotel/resident areas and property are adequately secured at all times.
- Conducts and coordinates all investigations into theft or lost items, guest disturbances, employee injuries, and/or other complaints, as required.
- Coordinates all emergency procedures and ensures all Security team members are trained.
- Develops and enforces Standard Operating Procedures for Loss Prevention.
- Responsible for training all security staff in hotel procedures and guest service skills.
- Maintains incident reports for all General Liability incidents.
- Is responsible for the training of all First Responders in the hotel for injury and other First Aid related incidents.
- Maintains all shift reports and logs of incidents that occur each day.
- Acts as the keeper of the keys for the hotel. Assigns and makes keys for the hotel as needed.
- Maintains the key log in an up-to-date fashion for all departments.
- Maintains the radio log in an up-to-date fashion for all departments.
- Make routine inspections of all facilities - checks banquet rooms, ballrooms, and guest rooms for proper use and safety conditions.
- Monitors receiving areas to assure use only be authorized personnel.
- Completes Incident Reports as required for any injury, theft, burglary, or other occurrences.
- Completes Daily Activity Reports.
- Handles emergency situations as required by the hotel's emergency procedures.
- Facilitates monthly departmental and safety committee meetings.
- Maintains an ongoing safety and security program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 to 3 Years’ experience in Supervisory Security role, preferably in a five-star luxury hotel
- The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, be able to motivate others, strong organizational skills, excellent listening and problem-solving skills with diplomacy.
- Exceptional organizational, communications and guest relations skills required.
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy while performing job functions.
- Be a clear thinker, remain calm and make sound judgment in threatening situations.
- Full knowledge of worker's compensation and OSHA.
- Full knowledge of fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Current on the most up to date security technology.
- Must have current CPR certification and First Aid Training.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to give effective safety presentations.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, CCTV)
- Must be able to be contacted at all times and respond to any emergency situation involving the hotel.
- Coordinates with Human Resources Department and respective Department Heads training activities and cross exposure programs to ensure staff development.
EDUCATION:
- Security Guard license required.
- Degree in Hospitality preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.
- Proficiency in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German is preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
