Job Description
Collegiate School is seeking part time and full time Security Officers to actively provide safety and security protection to the School’s campus, buildings, and assets. These positions will require being a visible presence on campus and actively engaging with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This is not a stationary position. The Security Officers will be part of a team that takes ownership of the security program and has a strong desire to provide high quality customer service.
We are currently looking to hire security officers for evenings and overnight shifts.
General Responsibilities include:
- Assist with coordinating off-duty county police and school security personnel responses to mitigate emergency situations
- Assist school administration in the prevention of personal injury, property loss, and disruption of educational purpose by vehicular and foot patrol, observation, proactive response, and visible presence on campus
- Patrol campus to provide a physical security presence and to identify / prevent safety hazards and issues
- Assist with parking for events on campus and monitor venues where events are taking place
- Conduct general inspection of buildings and grounds. Check buildings to make sure they are secure to include interior and exterior spaces
- Using a mobile device, be able to monitor access control and provide access to buildings as requested
- Respond to calls for service to provide customer service
- Document calls for service and provide daily activity reports
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma
- Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and have a clean driving record
- Have documented work experience with a positive employment history. Previous police, security or military service experience is preferred
- Exhibits solid understanding of emergency procedures and execution of plans during stressful situations
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team
- Adheres to all personnel policies, procedures, and rules continued in the School’s Faculty/Staff handbook
- Possesses excellent communication skills with attention to detail and ability to take charge of an emergency situation
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to learn the access and weather monitoring systems used by the School
- Positive attitude and desire to be part of the Security team.
- Standing for up to 3 hours at a time
- Walking for up to 3 miles in a normal work day
- Working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Carrying up to 50 pounds
- Providing leadership and direction under periods of high stress
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid
