School/Department: EVERGLADES HIGH City & Zip: MIRAMAR, FL, US, 33027 Requisition #: 15063 Posting Closing Date: 06/30/2025 School Year: 2024-2025 To perform semi-skilled work in all areas of responsibility for the proper operation of the mechanical systems such as air conditioning, boilers, and pumps; and understand and practice energy conservation, as well as direct and participate in the cleaning, orderliness, appearance, safe condition and upkeep of the school in a responsible and accurate manner. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare school for daily opening, including opening doors, turning on lights, and ensuring the air conditioning system is working properly. Prepare cleaning schedule for the balance of the custodial staff and effect direct supervision of all custodial personnel; conduct training classes for all custodial employees on the proper use of tools, equipment, and supplies. Requisition materials, store, and issue necessary cleaning supplies. Be responsible for the display of the flags in accordance with standard procedures inside and outside of the building. Ensure that an energetic safety program is in effect to include proper storage of supplies in order to eliminate possible fire and safety hazards. Keep records of repairs and equipment operating logs as required. Perform minor maintenance in all trades and report maintenance needs, as required, to properly and completely maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds. Assemble and repair desks, chairs, tables, and other furniture. Perform duties of the Facilities Serviceperson. Practice safety continuously and ensure that a safe working area exists. Inform supervisor of needed supplies and recognize building equipment, mechanical equipment, and structural problems which require servicing or maintenance. Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignments. Complete all projects in a competent manner and ensure proper recording of time and materials. Perform all duties which require extensive physical effort, such as climbing, lifting, pulling, etc., which requires the physical ability to lift, on average, up to fifty-five (55) pounds. Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibility. Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Perform other duties required by the principal, administrator, or designee. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Three (3) years of industrial, commercial, or educational facility experience. Extensive knowledge in the proper operation of vacuums, washers, and buffing equipment; must be able to impart this knowledge to all subordinates. Must be able to schedule assignments and instruct his/her staff in the correct methods of energy conservation procedures. Considerable knowledge of chemical procedures and scheduling needed to provide the proper care for all types of floors and proper sanitation. Physically able to help in the cleaning which includes working from ladders. Must be able to assume responsibility and follow both written and oral instruction. Must complete the Professional and Master Facilities Service job-related training programs, conducted by Human Resources Development, prior to applying for the position. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action up to and including demotion, as per Article 2 of the Federation of Public Employees (Facilities Service, Maintenance, Transportation, and Security Specialists) Bargaining Agreement. Computer skills as required for the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Majority of contact is with employees within the department utilizing communication skills requiring tact and courtesy to give or receive information directly related to performing the job. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
