The Information Security Engineer has primary responsibility for implementing and maintaining the credit union’s information security program. The goal of this role is to ensure the protection of confidential member information along with other credit union data and technology assets. This role requires a deep understanding of evolving security threats, as well as the tools and methods for their mitigation. The role will coordinate closely with other technical staff, Risk Advisory Services, and employees from across the enterprise on a variety of information security related tasks and projects. The Information Security Engineer will design and implement security procedures, monitoring, and mitigation activities in alignment with the goals and policies of Unitus’ Information Security Program, ensuring our commitment for unparalleled service – the kind that creates the Unitus difference. * While most of this work can be done from home, Unitus employees are required to live in Oregon or Washington states. This team do connect in person at the office at least once per month.
Primary duties:
- Key contributor to ensure the protection of confidential member information, data, and technology assets through monitoring of Unitus’ technical environment and administration of security-related tools and processes. Work with stakeholders to design and implement the information security program to ensure compliance with the Unitus Information Security Policy.
- Coordinate internal efforts and implement risk mitigation recommendations resulting from internal and external security audits.
- Serve as a resource to internal stakeholders. Conduct research, evaluate processes, applications, or hardware, and provide input regarding inclusion in the technology stack. Coordinate with third parties to evaluate application security parameters, requirements, and enhancements.
- Participate as a resource on credit union project teams, providing security assessments of systems under review, as well as guidance for security best practices. Participate in the implementation of security-related systems and solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems/related field or equivalent work experience.
- Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in information security including information security program development and management.
- Three or more years of experience in the administration of technical security solutions (i.e. Intune, Defender, Sentinel, Tenable, etc.) required.
- CISA, relevant GIAC and or MCSA: Security or MCSE preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in IT in roles such as network engineer or systems analyst preferred.
- Prior experience in financial services or other highly regulated industry a plus.
