Job Overview:

Terrible's is seeking a vigilant and professional Armed Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our premises, employees, and guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to maintaining a secure environment, excellent observational skills, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Surveillance and Patrol: Monitor premises through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and conduct regular patrols to ensure the safety and security of the property.
  • Access Control: Manage entry and exit points, verifying identification and ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches. Provide assistance in medical emergencies, fire incidents, and other hazardous situations.
  • Report Writing: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Conflict Resolution: Handle conflicts and disputes in a professional manner, ensuring de-escalation and resolution of issues without compromising safety.
  • Law Enforcement Liaison: Work closely with local law enforcement agencies to report criminal activities and assist with investigations as needed.
  • Safety Protocols: Enforce safety protocols and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Training and Compliance: Participate in ongoing training programs and ensure compliance with all legal regulations and company policies regarding the use of firearms and other security measures.
  • Customer Service: Provide assistance and support to customers and employees, addressing any security concerns and promoting a safe environment.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience as an armed security guard or in a similar security role is preferred.
  • Licensing: Valid Armed Security Guard license and permit to carry a firearm as required by the state.
  • Training: Completion of relevant security training programs, including firearm safety and use of force.
  • Skills: Excellent observational and surveillance skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Additional Criteria: Must meet one of the following:
    • Hold a current concealed weapon permit issued by a political subdivision of the State of Nevada;
    • Be presently employed as an active duty law enforcement officer in the State of Nevada;
    • Be a retired law enforcement officer who holds a current Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act card.

Language Sills:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses and Permits

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required for position by federal, state and local regulations which may include:
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification from ASIS International is preferred.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada state security license.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain gaming and non-gaming licenses as required by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
  • Must qualify for and maintain an armed security officer license in accordance with Nevada state regulations, including completing required firearms training and passing necessary background checks.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
