Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

Exhibit proficiency in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, including pediatric blood collections and difficult draws in medical office buildings. You will have a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety and effectively communicate their importance to other employees. You will also provide orientation and training for patient services.

Responsibilities
  • Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups.
  • Conduct pediatric blood collections and handle difficult draws.
  • Ensure compliance and safety standards are met and communicated to the team.
  • Provide orientation and training for patient services staff.
  • Process specimens in an inpatient setting.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma
  • CPT 1 License
  • 1 year phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting (e.g., Pediatrics, ICU, High Volume) OR 2 years phlebotomy experience in a reference laboratory setting
  • Flexibility to be on-call and work same-day shifts
  • Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
  • Comfortable working with patients on the COVID floor
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with inpatient specimen processing
Work Environment

This is an on-call position, with varying hours including weekends. Due to union agreements, contingent workers are scheduled only after offering hours to current employees, resulting in most shifts being available due to same-day call outs. You must be flexible and available for same-day shifts and complete a few weeks of full-time training before transitioning to on-call status. The dress code requires scrubs. This position was created to address higher volume and need for more coverage, offering an opportunity to work at multiple locations including Riverside, Moreno Valley, and MOB locations. Training will be conducted during the 1st shift, Monday-Friday.
