Req #111 The Muskegon Maritime Academy offers K-5 students an opportunity to develop robust Reading, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. We achieve this in tandem with water education and maritime research, in an environment that models the military values of discipline, respect, honor, and service. Muskegon Maritime Academy is seeking a full-time School Principal to join our team starting in July/August 2023! Position Summary: The Principal will serve as the certified leader with responsibility for developing, implementing, and assuring adherence to policies, compliance, programs, and evaluation activities of MMA and its Board of Directors. The Principal has the responsibility of ensuring a positive culture in the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. The Principal will be nurturing, entrepreneurial, creative, dynamic, enthusiastic, and committed to the belief that all children should be respected as individuals and encouraged to reach their full personal academic, social, emotional, and creative potential. By providing leadership in school operations, curriculum and instruction, and school improvement, the Principal will pursue the vision and execute the mission of the school for students, families, and staff. Ensuring that academic policies and curriculum are followed Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional success Helping teachers maximize their teaching potential Meeting and listening to concerns of students on a regular basis Encouraging, guiding and assisting student leaders and teachers Meeting with parents and administrators on a regular basis for problem resolution Enforcing discipline when necessary Providing an atmosphere free of any bias in which students can achieve their maximum potential Qualifications/Education: A Master’s Degree, Specialist, or advanced degree in educational leadership, curriculum, or related field. Candidates must possess the required certification credits mandated by the State of Michigan. Must possess and provide evidence of State of Michigan School Administrator Certification.
