The Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) value team in R&D IT brings together IT product management, engineering, and data science expertise to enable data and technology products and services that accelerate our scientists' ability to discover and develop innovative medicines that change the course of human health. Our IT team operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. We partner internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation and advance the drug discovery and development pipeline.
As an IT Product Technical Lead within the Disease Biology and PharmTox (DBPT) Product Line, you will enable MOLECULAR PROFILING technical capabilities that would help our scientists generate hypotheses and draw rapid conclusions by interrogating target biology and its relationship to human disease and pharmacological interventions.
This will be accomplished through cross-functional teams that bring together molecular science, technologies, capabilities, and talent to create IT products that deliver high impact business value, insight, and a fantastic user experience to scientists. Through your role, you will help define the standard of excellence in technical (IT) product management within our organization.
Additionally, you will be accountable for identifying opportunities to grow and improve the IT technical landscape while simultaneously ensuring consistent performance of existing IT applications. You will use your knowledge of these molecular profiling IT products to promote their meaningful use by giving product demos, sharing user stories, and showing the connection of our data and technology products to our mission to serve patients.
Primary Tasks:
Partner with Molecular Profiling Product Manager to understand, prioritize and develop strategically aligned IT solutions to deliver maximum business value.
Deliver forward looking Molecular Profiling IT solutions by proactively tracking technology trends, vendor marketplace and upcoming business needs.
Manage the IT product technology roadmap and convey related IT strategy and governance.
Act as the single point of IT contact for all technical matters (Solution, Development, Support and Total cost of ownership) within the assigned product.
Own IT product technology solutions from concept to retirement, while striving to increase ROI and reduce financial investment.
Manage a team of cross functional technical resources assigned to multiple squads within the product.
Develop and convey accurate and realistic project plans, resource estimates and timelines in alignment with prioritized business requirements.
Ensure all
IT
systems are designed, built, and operated in an SDLC compliant manner and promote the effective use of IT standards and tools.
Demonstrate an eagerness to learn drug discovery & development processes and regulatory requirements as necessary to solve problems.
Education Minimum:
Minimum of a B.A./B.S. in a scientific or technical discipline (such as computer science, engineering, biology, bioinformatics etc.). Working experience in Pharma industry is preferred but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
8 years in IT with ability to architect, engineer, optimize and maintain software solutions to solve complex problems encountered by scientists (Sequencing, data move, insights/molecular profile from sequencing data, Data Governance) as their primary means of experimentation.
5 years of experience in designing and deploying custom and off the shelf IT Solutions for pharmaceutical profiling/screening solutions.
5 years latest hands-on experience in full stack development on Java (preferred), C# or Python.
5 years of latest hands-on experience with AWS and/or HPC (high performance computing) services.
Strong experience on Linux scripting language (like bash).
Strong experience in DevSecOps.
Strong experience working in a matrixed environment with geographically dispersed teams including company staff, contractors, and vendors.
Demonstrated ability to operate and successfully deliver value in an agile fashion.
Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to influence strategic thinking.
Desired Technical Skills:
Experience in Sequencing COTS tools like BioTuring, DNANEXUS, BLAT/BLAST etc.
Has AWS Cloud solution architect and/or Developer certification.
Experience in tools like NEXTFLOW, CODEOCEAN, Python and Perl.
Experience in developing and deploying containerized applications (like Docker).
Has performed installation and configurations of commercial-off-the-shelf enterprise applications in both Windows, Linux, and Cloud environments.
Hands on experience with application development and relational databases.
API development and data integration experience is a plus.
Experience operating and delivering in a GxP compliant manner.
Has used Jira and Confluence in the management and tracking of agile projects.
Experience with Automated business application testing framework like ROBOT or other industry standard tools for test script management and approvals.
Desired Business Aligned Experience:
Understanding of molecular biology and Omics (genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics).
Experience in different Sequencing technologies, processes and tools.
