Accounting Specialist 
Chicago, IL 60622 (West Loop)
Direct-Hire: $55,000-$65,000

Job Description:
As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of the business. You will be responsible for handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and some payroll duties. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background and attention to detail to contribute to the financial health and success of our company. Daily responsibilities consist of:

  • Receive in electronic invoices and begin processing and verifying information

  • Process vendor invoices and communicating differences to suppliers to resolve disputes

  • Communicate with branch locations through email to obtain documentation needed to process or reconcile

  • Weekly check runs and payment disbursements to vendors

  • Respond timely to vendor inquiries and maintain excellent working relationships with all suppliers

  • Maintaining organization and tracking of vendor lists and reports

  • Ensure accurate recording of freight revenue and expenses, including tariffs, duties, and transportation costs

  • Generate and send customer invoices promptly.

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments.

  • Apply payments received to customer accounts accurately.

  • Address customer inquiries regarding invoices and payments.

  • Collaborate with operations team to reconcile freight charges and resolve discrepancies

  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable records with general ledger.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Assist in processing payroll for employees.

  • Verify timesheets and ensure accuracy of payroll data.

  • Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes and benefits.

  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees.

Qualifications:
We highly prefer to align with candidates from Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Trucking, Intermodal or Transportation industries but also open to training a smart and capable person the ins and outs of what we do.
Must have a minimum of 2 years in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
