Job Description
We are offering an opportunity in the nonprofit financial services industry, based in Chicago, Illinois, for a part time Accounting Manager/Supervisor. The chosen candidate will be part of a team responsible for various accounting functions, including the maintenance of general ledgers, preparation of financial statements, and resolution of accounting discrepancies. This role provides a long term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the preparation and review of timely, reliable, and accurate month-end consolidated financial statements.
• Maintenance of general ledgers, generation of monthly financial statements and supporting workpapers.
• Prepare monthly analysis of financial results in comparison to company’s budget.
• Proactively catch errors and research accounting discrepancies. Develop solutions and recommend improvements, as necessary.
• Work with accounting team members to ensure accounting and loan servicing platforms agree monthly.
• Assist with annual audits as required.
• Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities within the team, as needed and assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably at least two years in a property management or real estate environment. Excellent analytical skills and attention to details.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with QuickBooks.
• Familiar with SharePoint and Smartsheet (Not Required but Preferred).
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
