ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of the accounting staff. The Accounting Manager will assist the CFO in creating accurate and timely financial statements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll
  • Oversee the daily accounting activities and maintain accounting controls
  • Supervises, directs and reviews the work of accounting staff (including, but not limited to accounts receivable/payable transactions, check runs, fixed asset activity, payroll, etc.)
  • Approve Account Payable for processing
  • Monthly review of service fees billing and submit to Regional Centers
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Cash management
  • Resolve complex accounting issues or assist CFO in resolving issues
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
  • Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting process and procedures
  • Documents all accounting procedures and maintains an up to date manual.
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the CFO.

Job Requirements and Essential Skills/Functions:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred with 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of ADP Payroll System
  • Strong understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Professional demeanor and Ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively direct and supervise small accounting staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including advance knowledge of Excel a must
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting, Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred
  • Must have a clear driving record, valid CA driver’s license.
  • Able to lift to 25 lbs. by self, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, bending, repetitive motion and pulling may be required.

Hours: Varied based on caseload needs; both early evening and weekend work required.
