We are seeking an Accounting Supervisor for one of our client companies in the wholesale food industry, located in Morris County.
You will lead the day-to-day operations of the company s accounting department, including managing the accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and implementing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures. This position could lead to a Controller position over time. Competitive salary will be commensurate with experience.
You must have Bachelors degree in Accounting with 4-6 years experience in accounting services.

Responsibilities
- Supervising/leading a team of 3, including assigning tasks, providing guidance and training, and evaluating performance.
- Facilitate billing (A/P) and receivables (A/R).
- Daily transaction processing, monthly reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts.
- Processing payroll and year-end W2s and 1099s.
- Preparing financial statements, reports and budgets.
- Reviewing and analyzing financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulations and company policies.
- Collaborating with other departments to support business objectives and provide financial analysis and insights.
- Developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Managing the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assisting outside accountants with financial statement preparation and tax compliance.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards and best practices.
- Degree in Accounting and/or licensed CPA (or seeking licensure)
- 3-5 years of experience working in accounting services, controller or similar positions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage on-site and remote accounting staff.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Expertise in ERP software such as SAGE, Net Suite, etc.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic accounting systems.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
- Accounting Software experience.
- A/P and/or A/R software experience.
- Payroll software experience.
