Job Title: Accounting Manager

Reporting To: CFO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight of all accounting functions and will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department. Their direct reports will be the Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for month-end closing, financial reporting, billing, payables, and payroll.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

Duties

  • Complete and evaluate general ledger month-end procedure, including but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliation, adjustments, and accruals.
  • Prepare monthly invoices for various programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring reconciliations are completed.
  • Maintain the total budget analysis for the organization.
  • Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Review monthly, quarterly journal entries for all accounting activity.
  • Responsible for overseeing the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payrolls, and all payroll related duties to include:
    • Administration of the electronic timekeeping system; monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service provider.
    • Employee records: ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis (on payroll & 401k systems)
    • 401(k) electronic uploads to our retirement company for all participating employees
  • Act as back up for payroll and accounts payable when needed.
  • Provide 401(k) audit support and compliance reporting support.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.
  • Lead, participate or perform other duties and projects as requested.
  • Participate in organization-wide meetings, committees, and initiatives.

Benefits

  • Salary Range $130,000-$150,000
