With a commitment to excellence and growth, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and strategy for all our businesses.


Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager at Harmon Management Company will play a crucial role in leading the accounting team across all our subsidiary companies. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position is responsible for the overall financial planning, management, and administration operations for the organization, including Spartan Logistics, NAI Harmon Group, Benchmark Restaurant Group, and Logan Creek Construction Company. This role encompasses various areas such as accounting, general ledger, treasury and risk management, cash management. This role will coordinate the business unit account staff and partner with executive leadership to support the operations of the business groups.

Key Responsibilities:


Financial Planning, Management and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the CFO to assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regards to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations for planning and organization of short-term and long-term growth and goals.
  • Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
  • Evaluate departmental structure for efficiency and effectiveness, recommending process improvements as needed.
  • Provide financial guidance and analysis to support business decisions and growth initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement, implementing policies, procedures, and processes as appropriate.
  • Develop and report KPIs that enhance the focus and performance of the finance organization and business units.

Accounting Oversight:

  • Manage and lead the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Build and foster creative teams committed to continuing the culture of innovation and process improvement by providing leadership and guidance to the accounting teams.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for all subsidiary companies.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Oversee the month-end close process ensuring timely reporting and departmental efficiency.

Treasury and Risk Management:

  • Manage cash flow, including cash forecasting and optimization.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks by maturing an adequate segment of duties and a system of internal controls.
  • Utilize forward looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.

Cash Management:

  • Monitor daily cash positions including external banking relationships.
  • Supervise accounts receivable management and provide guidance relating to timely collections and reporting.
  • Reconcile and report intercompany balances recommending opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting or finance role, preferably in a multi-company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulations.
  • 10+ years of Accounting and Finance experience with a minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills and a demonstrated ability to build and foster strong teams and relationships.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
