Salary Range: $49,068 - $57,913 annually ($25.17 -$29.70 per hour), plus benefits

The Position

We are seeking to fill the position of "Accounting Technician." The work this person does will have a substantial impact on financial day-to-day operations for our agency.

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Technician will provide service to the agency by performing day-to-day accounting and financial tasks related to the business and financial operations of the agency together with and in support of other members of the Finance team and is expected to cross-train in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Technician will work to ensure that all tasks related to the processing of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable transactions of the agency are performed accurately, in a timely manner and comply with ongoing and changing requirements. You will learn and follow agency policies and processes and be able to work in close coordination with other finance staff as well as with the members of other teams in the agency. You will process invoices and/or rent and other receipts, perform calculations, analyses, reconciliations of bank, vendor or tenant accounts; cross-train on other related functions, prepare journal vouchers and assist other accounting technicians and finance staff in the preparation of certain financial transactions and reports in a timely and accurate manner. You will work with others to help develop and document new processes as needed.

The Accounting Technician will play a vital role in similar work for the agency as a whole and will support the CFO, Deputy Director, and Other Finance Staff in processing day-to-day transactions and gathering information and conducting analyses as needed especially on items pertaining to AR and AP.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline and six months of relevant experience.

OR:

Associate Degree in Accounting or related field and two years of paid experience in finance, payroll, accounting, budgeting, or similar position.

OR:

At least five years of paid accounting experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF/SKILL IN:

•Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

•Excellent communication, composition, grammar, spelling, and math skills

•Effectively use Microsoft suite of software programs, proficiency in Excel

REQUIRED ABILITY TO:

•Create and utilize complex computerized spreadsheets, correspondence, reports and presentations

•Utilize computers, devices, software applications, and various office machines

•Maintain, troubleshoot, and reconcile vendor accounts, tenant accounts and subsidiary ledger accounts

•Perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy

•Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail

•Manage time and tasks efficiently with limited supervision

•Professionally and tactfully communicate in English both verbally and in writing, including with co-workers, supervisors, directors, other colleagues, clients, auditors, customers, vendors and the public

•Understand and follow written and verbal instructions accurately

•Understand and manage filing and organizing systems

•Drive a vehicle safely and legally

ADDITIONAL (DESIRABLE) QUALIFICATIONS

•Experience in public sector financial accounting

•Prior housing authority work experience

•Prior property management work experience

•Prior use of accounting software
