Job Description
Position Title: Accounting Assistant
Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Compensation: $22-$24.75/hr DOE plus full medical, dental, and vision insurance. Other benefits include matching 401k, access to professional development funds, substantial PTO, and a free fit bit.
Location: Hybrid, preferred to be able to work in office one day per week.

About the Organization: Lines for Life is a regional non-profit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. We offer help and hope to individuals and communities and promote mental health for all. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help.
Accounting Assistant Position Summary: This role will be responsible for assisting the Finance department with basic accounting tasks. Entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:
- Review employee timecards for accuracy and follow up with supervisors about timecard reviews or issues to ensure they are complete prior to processing
- Ensure that ADP data is accurate, including deductions, reimbursements and contributions
- Assist with manual payroll and expense allocation entries
- Assist with recording and reconciling monthly donations via multiple web portals
- Assist with monthly billing
- Review and process employee reimbursements
- Data entry
- Assist with reviewing and recording invoices for timely and accurate payment processing, confirming validity of the debt and reconciling and reporting on monthly payments
- Assist with Monthly closings
- Assist with recording and reconciling monthly credit card purchases
- Assist with weekly deposit
- Other duties as assigned
Accounting Assistant Required Qualifications:
- Experience reviewing payroll items
- Previous administrative or executive assisting
- Accounting or business administration coursework
- Good attention to detail
- Able to work in a team and independently
- Basic Excel skills
- Familiarity with accounting software and tax preparation software such as QuickBooks Online, MIP, or Sage Accounting
- Driven, self-motivated, and goal-oriented
- Strong critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills
- Organized and time efficient
Accounting Assistant Preferred Qualifications:
- Accounting or Finance degree
- Experience working in a nonprofit setting
