Opportunity The Accounting Manager will oversee and manage the financial operations of Life Surge. Reporting directly to the Controller, they are responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and providing financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making. The Accounting Manager leads a team of accountants and collaborates with other departments to ensure the financial health and stability of the organization. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement).
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Supervise, train, and mentor the accounting team, providing direction and support to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Allocate and prioritize tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
Lead the development of the annual budget and periodic forecasts, working closely with department heads.
Monitor budget performance and variance analysis to ensure spending aligns with forecasts.
Provide financial insights to management for decision-making and cost management.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and audit requirements.
Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial data.
Oversee internal and external audits, liaising with auditors and providing necessary documentation.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Manage cash flow to ensure the company has sufficient liquidity.
Review and process journal entries and reconcile accounts on a regular basis.
Analyze financial performance and provide management with reports on trends, variances, and recommendations for improvements.
Process payments, including but not limited to: ACHs, reimbursements, refunds, vendor agreements.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA is a plus but not required).
5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite.
ERP knowledge and experience is preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with tax preparation and planning, and audit preparation is a plus.
